Tips for planting Big-N-Beasty Brassicas:

This seed is an annual and will only grow one season.  This is a cool weather plant, and seems to like a cover crop as long as it is not too heavy.  They should have good sunlight and don't do well in extremely dry or extremely wet areas.  Can grow in sand but soil should be heavier than sugar sand.  Seeding rate is 4-5 lbs per acre.  You have 2 options for planting this seed.  If you plant it in the spring, it will produce a lot of forage and it will feed the deer all fall and winter.  If you plant it in the fall, it will produce smaller plants that are more tender and deer will like it better.  We recommend planting a combination of early and late, this will give you food for winter and attract the deer during hunting season.  Either way, the deer will not touch this until after a killing frost.  A killing frost will turn the leaves sweet and deer will love it.  This is a very high energy, high protein  food.  Brassica is an excellent choice to frost seed into any existing perrenial stand.
